NOTE: ETHANOL BLEND PETROL

Ethanol blend petrol is now available at Gull Service stations and no doubt other suppliers will have their version of the fuel available in due time. This will be sold as E10 blend with a 98 octane rating. E10 means that there is a 10% quantity of Ethanol mixed with the fuel.

Renault vehicles presently comply with European legislation which requires that all petrol vehicles are approved to use ethanol of up to E5 blend i.e. 5% ethanol is added to the petrol.

In 2009 the EU legislation will be changed to require all cars to be able to use E10 blend, at which time Renault’s models will have been engineered to standards required for this level of Ethanol use.

WARNING

The present fleet of Renault vehicles are only approved to use an E5 blend so any use of the E10 blend is entirely at the owners’ risk. Any use of E10 petrol in vehicles still within the manufactures warranty contractual period means that the warranty would be void for any issues relating to: poor performance, rough running etc, engine and component damage, which is caused by the E10 fuel.
