Overview
A reactive chassis
The all new Laguna’s chassis feature among the best in it’s segment. Engineered to surpass the acclaimed dynamic performance of it’s predecessor, it’s steering precision and cornering roll control are sure to satisfy the most exacting drivers. Development focused on the new Laguna’s specific body roll with front and rear suspension stiffness up rated by 20 and 50% respectively, plus higher performance anti-roll bars.
Precise steering
The accuracy of the steering is based on a reduced steering ratio and a stiffened steering column, with an aim to offer the driver more driving pleasure. The increased stiffness and systematic tracking give the driver more direct, accurate contact with the road. This will reduce response time between the steering wheel and the change of direction, plus reduce vibration arising from imperfections on the road.
Engines available
The Laguna offers one engine in New Zealand – the 2.0 dCi 150hp, a class-leading engine for performance and driving pleasure. The engine offers a maximum power of 110kW, which is available even at high engine speeds. A wide gear range ensures clean and continuous acceleration. The Laguna also features the new auto-adaptive 6-speed automatic gearbox with particle filter. Choose from a completely automatic setting or a sequential manual mode for exceptionally smooth and quick gear changes.
Safety
Braking and ESP: The all new Laguna can boast the best braking performance of its category. The new generation ABS is coupled with the dynamic control of ESP and provides a more efficient braking system, reacting at just the right moment without the driver having to anticipate and thus avoiding violent jerking when braking.
Frontal impact:
The Laguna benefits from Renault’s expertise in safety; new generation dual-volume frontal airbags which adapts to the occupant’s size and position. The dual seatbelt pre-tensioner system guarantees that the all new Laguna's passengers stay firmly in their seats in the event of sudden braking. It is linked to the anti-submarine devices built in under the front seats.
Side impact – A world first safety system:
To guarantee enhanced protection, the Laguna evolved to ensure that its latest generation protection equipment was triggered even faster. For effective protection of all occupants, the Laguna is equipped with 8 standard airbags, including two new-generation dual volume adaptive airbags and a sensor mounted on the driver’s side seat-rail. The dual side impact sensors can reduce impact detection and reaction by half the time.
The Renault Laguna has been awarded with a 5 star NCAP safety rating. With a total of 36 from a possible 37, it is one of the highest scores ever recorded in the tests. |
